Palo Alto Networks BPA
& Expedition tool
Lunch & Learn | Wednesday 6 February | Exclusive Networks

On February the 6th Palo Alto Networks will deep dive into two of their powerful firewall optimization tools. Tim De Boeck from the Customer Experience team will elaborate on their Best Practice Assessment Tool.

After Lunch, Didac Gil (member of the Expedition team) will present Expedition, the next evolution of the Migration tool.

About the Best Practice Assessment tool

The BPA tool provides you (based on the current firewall policy) with a Best Practice Assessment (BPA) For NGFW and Panorama to measure what, where and how a customer is applying capabilities across their Palo Alto Networks platform, and how these configurations compare to best practice.

With a BPA, you will:

  • Provide a comprehensive security health check and gauge where they are with their existing policy configurations.

  • Create a roadmap of critical policy configurations and measure the progress of their implementation.

  • Leverage our tools to improve their prevention posture by following our recommended best practices.

About Expedition

Expedition is the fourth evolution of the Palo Alto Networks Migration Tool. The main purpose of this tool was help reducing the time and efforts to migrate a configuration from one of the supported vendors to Palo Alto Networks.

By using the Migration Tool, everyone can convert a configuration from Checkpoint, Fortinet, Juniper or Cisco or any other vendor to a PAN-OS and give you more time to improve the results.
Migration Tool 3 added some functionalities to allow our customers to enforce security policies based on App-ID and User-ID as well.

With Expedition, Palo Alto Networks has gone one step further, not only because they want to continue helping to facilitate the transition of a security policy from others vendors to PAN-OS, but they also want to ensure the outcome is the best as possible. This is why they added a Machine Learning module that can help you generate new security policies based on real log traffic, together with the integration of the Best Practice Assessment Tool (covered before lunch).
